Things Meg & Rob Are Doing!

26 Jun

Meg here! Rob and I are still on what I’ll call “bicoastal hiatus,” but that doesn’t mean we’re not doing stuff! Here’s what we’re up to, and where you can check us out:

Rob has joined our dear friends in Camp Woods and Hate Speech Committee to do some excellent sketch and improv around Philadelphia, and he’s hosting the monthly shows TV Party and The Theme Show at the Philly Improv Theater. The show he served as Story Producer on, Staten Island Cakes, just premiered on WeTV.

Meg has been performing around Los Angeles. Her website is a good place to check in on what she’s doing and look at a picture of a laser wearing several top hats. Meg’s book, Little Old Lady Recipes, will be released in November.

Final Meg & Rob Performance March 14

14 Mar

First of all, we just want to say thank you to everyone who came out to our final shows; it meant a lot. We’ll have pictures and video soon.

For now, however, we’d like to mention our last performance for the conceivable future. Tuesday, March 14, is the very first installment of FaceTime with Chip Chantry, a new talk show at Helium in Philadelphia. We hope that Chip’s show will rise beautifully from our ashes. 8 p.m. / $5.

And don’t unsubscribe from our RSS feed: We’ll have some new videos coming up soon.

Last Two Shows This Weekend! People Say Nice Things on the Internet!

2 Mar

Your last two opportunities to see our final show are this weekend:

  • Friday March 4 at 8 p.m. we’ll be performing with Aaron Hertzog, the Feeko Brothers, and Bare Hug.
  • Saturday, March 5 at 11 p.m., we’ll be performing with Don Montrey, Gregg Gethard, Mikey Gleason, Chip Chantry, and Secret Pants.

Shows take place at the Shubin Theatre, 407 Bainbridge St., Philadelphia. Tickets are available on the Philly Improv Theater website, and we strongly recommend buying them ahead of time.

And we can assure you that we are not the only people who think this show is funny! Here’s what Philly comedy site WitOut has to say after having seen last Friday’s performance:

The absolute specificity in the writing of Meg & Rob sketches is amazing. Where Camp Woods is hilarious in the absolute madcap absurdity — Meg & Rob’s strength is that, even verging to the absurd, they always (well, usually) stay grounded. There’s always that humanity and emphasis on human relationships, even in their silliest sketches.

Not only do they have a great energy together and play off one another brilliantly, Baniewicz and Favreau are really versatile actors and they create opportunities for themselves in their writing by the range of characters and emotions they’re each able to play. Sketch actors can be notoriously one-note, but Meg & Rob can do it all.

Meg & Rob’s last show might also be their best.

We’re also very honored by the notes about Meg & Rob in the recent Philly Improv Theater newsletter.
